Police: Child flown to hospital after suffering bath burns in Penn Township

POLICE LOOKING INTO THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT ENDED UP WITH THIS LITTLE BOY BEING SCALDED SO BADLY HE’S NOW HERE AT PUPL UMPC MERCY HOSPITAL. THE URGENT 911 CALL CAME FROM THE WOMAN IN HER MID 20S WHO WAS CARETAKER FOR THE FIVE-YEAR-OLD BOY IN HIS PENN SHIP HOME.>>THEE DREW THE CHILD A BATH PLACED THE CHILD INTO THE BATH WATER AND WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO COULD TELL THAT THE CHILD WAS IN DISTRESS AND IN PAIN. REPORTER: THE CARETAKER TRIED TO REACH THE MOTHER THEN CALLED 911 FOR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS. ULTIMATELY HE WAS RUSHED BY HELICOPTER HERE TO UPMC MERCY.>>I DON’T KNOW FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD DEGREE, THE CAT GORE RYIZATION OF THE BURNS. WHT I CAN TELL YOU IS THAT THERE WERE OBVIOUS INJURIES. REPORTER: PENN TOWNSHIP POLICE CHIEF JON OTTO WOULD NOT DETAIL THE CHILD’S PREVIOUS MEDICAL CAN THANS THAT RAISED QUESTIONS IN THE CASE.>>IF THE CHILD IS CAPABLE OF DETERMINING TEMPERATURE AS ACCURATELY AS YOU AND I MAY BE ABLE TO AND ABLE TO VERBALIZE THE EXTREME TEMPERATURE OF THAT WATER.
