Advanced Tap Dance Lessons : Paddle & Roll Combination in Advanced Tap Dancing

By Grover Koelpin 13 comments

Hi, this is Sarah McLellan in New York City.
We are at June Brody’s dance studio, and on behalf of Expert Village, today I’m going
to teach you some advanced tap moves. Follow me. So now we’ve done our shuffle combination.
We’re going to do a bit of a paddle and roll combination. And this one’s a little different.
It adds some kind of like triple heel slaps and then into like a nice little syncopated
finish. So let’s start part one of the paddle combination. Watch my feet. Ok let’s start
the paddle combination on the left foot you’re going to do a heel drop and then stop, heel
dig with your right foot. Then you’re doing it on the other leg. So that is. And then
you’re going to go into a riff and the last part. So let’s try the first part of the paddle
again. Ready? And. And now we’re going to go in to part two of the paddle combination.

@Devilmouse12345 she probably is using capizeo pro k360s thats what most teachers and professionals use i have a pair but if your a hard tapper i would suggest them theyll last you alot longer than the normal blochs or capizeos…

The word "paradiddle" is used to represent a 4 beat pattern of rhythm. Used for drummers and usually written as a bracket of 4 16th notes. The paddle roll is based on a 4 beat step.

That is SO DIFFICULT to do SO SLOW, and still remain graceful!
